Soda Twelve!

So what happened with the soda project you as?

Simple. I forgot about it. hahah

Then on Mother’s Day I ran into an old friend who brought up the orange soda project and then it all came back to me that I still had one more post to do!!

So here comes the last orange soda.

Sioux City Orange Cream

DSC02917 Sioux City soda comes from the White Rock beverage company which was founded in 1871.

But they didn’t started making their Sioux City brand until 1987.

Their first flavor was  sasparilla and they say that they were the first to create an old western themed soft drink brand.

Some of their other flavors include, Cream Soda, Cherrys’n’mint, Berry Berry, and Birch Beer.

Soda 11

Today’s soda is..

DSC02919

Dad’s soda was started in Chicago, Illinois in the year 1937 with a very yummy Root Beer. They were the first soda company to use the 6 pack format(created by the Atlantic Paper Company in 1940) and they were also the first company to sell soda in a half gallon size bottle.  Dad’s market their soda as a family. Dad was a half gallon bottle, Mama was one quart, and Junior as 7-10 oz bottles in the 6 pack. Pretty cute.

Soda 10

Today's soda is..

The Faygo company was started by russian bakers Ben and Perry Feigenson. They opened their own bottling company in 1907 and based the soda flavors from their own frosting recipes.

I'm happy to announce this soda does have its own website -

with a very fun and interactive history section.

Check it out~

Another very yummy orange flavor. :)

Can you believe I only have 2 left to go???

Soda Nine

Today’s Soda is..

DSC02926

“Ya gots moxie my friend!”

Moxie soda was created by Augustin Thompson in the late 18’s as a nerve calming beverage.

As its popularity grew it became not just good soda but an american catch phrase. Moxie turned into another word for “courage, daring, and energy.” Pretty cool. :)

Soda Eight

Today’s soda is….

DSC02935

Real Soda.

Looks like Orange tastes like Grape.

I’ve been dreading this soda the most because I grew up taking grape flavored dimatap as a child when I was sick. It was nice at the time to have medicine that tasted like soda, but drinking a soda that tastes like a medicine I used to take just isn’t quite as fun. haha

DSC02937

Moving on…

Real Soda in Real Bottles is a company started in the 80’s by a young man who loved to collect bottle caps and felt very passionate about keep soda in glass bottles where they belong.

He didn’t create this soda though, he just works hard to keep a big store collection of glass bottle sodas.

So as for flavor.

I obviously didn’t like that it was grape. But moving past that it did taste like a really really good soda. Like if I did like grape flavor I definitely would like this soda.
It had a really clear and sweet flavor, just sadly it was grape. haha

Pretty interesting, huh?

Until next time.

Coming soon..

Be on the look out for the soda I've been dreading the most. heheh

Soda Seven

Here's lucky soda number Seven.
The only info I have for this Soda is what's on the bottle. Its Empire Bottling Works from Bristol Rhode Island - a company which started in 1930. You'd think by now that everything would have its own website, even its just a fan site, yet all I could find for this soda is places to buy it online(all which were sold out. haha)

I'm not really sure why a soda called "Empire Soda" would have a muffin/cupcake on the top, but it sure is cute! :)

As for flavor it was nothing to rave about, but definitely still yummy.

The bottle cap also told you how to remove itself...

..to the extent of even showing you the direction to twist it. haha

This was also the first bottle cap to have writing on the inside. I can't seem to find any connection between Oop! Juice (carbonated) and Empire soda... So I'm guess they're just the company that printed the muffin/cupcake on the bottle cap for Empire soda.
Here's what I found for OOP! Juice:
Thanks for reading! ♥

Sodas Five and Six

Soda Five was... Squamscot Soda. What a strange name...
I'm gonna be lazy today on the History lesson part and just add the website, but just for this post, so no worries. :)

This soda was good. But I do think it was another one that I should've taken the chance to shake it slightly so the creamy flavor and the orange flavor would've blended together better.

Soda Seven was...

My favorite soda name and label artwork so far. Its also the first that I couldn't find a website or info on. Strange

As for flavor it was just another yummy orange soda. heh
Until next time! :)

Kel Project - Soda Four

Today's Soda is...

The Nesbitt's company was founded in 1924 and they made syrups for soda fountains as well as ice cream toppings. In 1927 they created their orange soda and around 1938 they started bottling sodas, orange and other flavors. Nesbitt's Orange soda gained a lot of popularity even becoming the official 'orange drink' at Disneyland from its opening in 1955 and into the 60's.
Check out their website for more info and interesting facts -

I liked this soda a lot! Definitely my favorite so far, lots of good orange soda flavor in that bottle. :)
I still have many to go through, though. I'd better start picking up the pace or you guys may stop waiting around for my post, huh?
Or have you already given up on me..?
Hello??
hahah

I wonder if this has anything to do with why I liked it so much? teehee

Soda 3

The third soda was...
The first orange cream soda of the bunch.

Virgil's soda comes from the company REED's Inc. Which started with all natural ginger soda's. They now have many flavors of ginger sodas, energy elixers, ginger candy, ginger ice creams, Virgil's sodas(which are all the classic soda flavors), China Cola(cola with special chinese herbs), and sparking juice drinks, and are very proud of all their products. Ginger ice cream sounds very interesting, as does a rasberry ginger soda. Hmmm...

Check out their website:
http://www.reedsinc.com/

They were very very wordy about how they made this soda, and how amazing it is. Like it was you'll think it was 'made in heaven.'

I'm starting to realize that since I grew up on orange sodas made with everything but natural ingredients that its actually a little hard for me to equate the 'natural flavors orange soda' with the 'orange soda' flavor I know, and that might be throwing off my judgement of 'good' or 'bad'.
So I'd say this soda was just too rich for me. I also felt like the vanilla cream and the orange flavors didn't mix together well. I wonder now if I maybe should've slightly shaken it before I opened it, but the thought of shaking a soda is something you always stray away from.
It did smell really good if that helps. haha

Soda 2

Soda #2 was...

Route 66 Soda is a company from Wilmington, Illinois, that got their start creating Root Beer way back in 1996. Their sodas can be found in establishments along the Historic Route 66, as well through out those states the Highway runs though. Makes me want to watch the movie "Cars". :)
Want more information? Check out their website.
They even have a "Root Beer" recipe section,
anybody want some Root Beer pancakes??

As for flavor this was just a good basic orange soda, nothing to rave or complaint about - just yum. If I was traveling Historic Route 66 I'd definitely pick up one. ;)

It's no wonder they're...

The Kel Project - Soda One

The first soda I tried was...

which was...

Boylan is a family company out of New Jersey that is very proud of the fact that they still make their sodas the old fashioned way - like using cane sugar and glass bottles. The orange flavor is fairly new though, it was created in 1997. From 1891-1995 Boylan only made Birch Beer, when they came out with a black cherry and ginger ale soda, which are now part of the "Bottle Works" brand, as this soda is. Other flavors of "Bottle Works" include, grape, creme, and orange creme. And now they have many other choices of drinks to chose from, including, diet drinks, organic sodas, and natural seltzers.
Want any more info, check out their website: http://www.boylanbottling.com/

I liked this little detail, of "Sun" and "Shine" on each side the bottle.

Sadly, this soda did not taste very good. I looked at the ingredients and some of the main ingredients are mandarins and tangerines. It was very very sweet, like drinking the juice that's left in a can of mandarins. A little too sweet for me, drinkable but I don't think I'd get it again.

It was a really fun experience though, so I look forward to learning about the next 11 sodas. :)
