Shopping Tip

This tip of the week.

Price Book, Price Book, Price Book

In todays markets the main tool to help keep your grocery bill down is your own price book. They are easy to make. Just a small tablet with the pages labled with the alphabet. Then after shopping write down your purchases under each heading, Milk under M, etc. Then note the date and place and price. After a while you'll have quite a few numbers to work with AND against. These numbers help you see truly what is a good deal and where you got it. When I first made one of these it was for Tom to use at Costco, that time I used a small empty address book, I of course put the item in the name portion of the address and just ignored the address etc, and just used the space for the prices. Groceries being one of the most flexible bills, it truly pays to have a system to get the lowest price.

Speaking of the LOWEST price?

What's the lowest price you've found for a carton of salt? Where did you buy it?

Beach Picture

This photo from the past reminded me of a photo on a certain someones' page, tee hee
It was taken in 1971, the day Margaret came home from Pennsylvannia. She wanted to once again see the Pacific Ocean. Tom and Elnora are also in the photo. Taken by Momma Nic

Wild flowers on the way to your house..

These flowers came to the Lodge by a loving hand, and a spirit willing to make a few stops along the way. Jennifer traveled about 25 miles to get here and stopped along the way picking flowers, Aren't they amazing! About 9 different varieties.

Oh Wednesday.

So I decided to take a picture of one of my addictions(bracelets) for this Wendesday post. Its funny though, now that I look at it, I really feel like I should have more for how much I like bracelets. I know I lost the majority of my old collection in the flood, but its been three years since then. Or maybe it is alot but it just doesn't look like a lot to me.. what do I know. haha

Oh PS. And there's a where's waldo in this picture too, I think it was just accidentally in the drawer with them and I forgot to take it out the shot. hah Oh well.

A Gallon Of Broth ought to Fix Something

Yep, I just finished cooking up my .55 Lb. Chicken with a huge onion, 4 cloves of garlic, 6 ribs of celery, and of course lots of water, salt, and spices. Yum. This should finish my cold, and help keep the cold away from the rest of my family. Ny

I'm a sucker for a good survey quiz!

The way this works is: you google the answers to the following questions and insert an image from what you find on google!
Enjoy!

Homegrown Compassion

Well the Momma has been sick this week. Yuck. Lots of coughing and hacking going on here. But there is some very sweet compassion going on as well, which got me to thinking about compassion. How do you learn about it? How do you learn to have it?
** I remember being a young Mom, the day would be at its end and I would be at my end as well. To help my oldest understand, I would build a tower of blocks on the end table. She knew very well what would happen if you stack blocks too high. Soon she would come over to me when I would just put one block up.
** I remember crying when I burnt my sons blanket, yep, burnt it. I had just put a new lining on it, and we proudly took a spin around the block in the stroller and unknowingly the blanket got caught in the wheels, leaving a huge greasy spot, which cleaned up right away. Having no dryer at the time, I put it in the oven on low. Sigh, that new lining had alot of nylon in it and it just melted and burnt. I just fell apart. Then my son came up to me with his blanket, ( it was cooled of by now) offering me his now newly named blanket, Boo-Boo Blanket.
** Then a few years later, another daughter came, giving us small pats on the back to each and everyone of us, at a very early age.
We all have been Blessed

Its Wednesday again

I'm not postive I'm going to keep the whole wacky Wednesday thing yet, that really was just a desperate attempt to get something posted - since I knew it was about time. I also learned that the orange is too bright for some screens so I'll have to test out some other ones. heh Anyway I have decided that Wednesday should be my regular day to post though because its my day off so I should have less excuses to not do it. haha

So anyway a few days ago I was feeling a bit down so I went to the creek in our backyard just to poke around I happened to have the camera with me so I took a few pictures that I thought I'd share with you all. :D Enjoy.

Since I was a little kid the creek was always a good place to escape from the world to play, to day dream, or just to relax and forget about everything else. But since the flood its been a little harder to trust that I'll still get that same happy feeling when I go down there and not feelings of sadness or anger, because it could be looked at that the creek kicked me out of its escape land and pushed me out into the world. So when I go back down there now I'm always a little surprised that it actually does still feel exactly the same and is still just as beautiful and calming as ever.
